Unidentified Seed/Fruit cf. Cedrelospermum nervosum seed Green River Fm (Parachute Creek Mbr) Middle Eocene Uintah County, Utah
This specimen is interpreted to be a berry from the family Adoxaceae (elderberry?). The example seen here is a small single fruit. Also on the slab is a partial seed of Cedrelospermum nervosum.
The family Adoxaceae has about 20 living species today in temperate to subtropical regions in much of the world. No fossil leaves associated with this family have been identified in the Green River Formation yet.
